A smaller apartment on a steady rhythm
For a long-time resident, the common choice is a regular cleaning schedule every week or every other week. The kitchen and bathroom carry most of the time per visit, dusting runs top-down from the floor with an extendable duster, and the floors come last. We never climb on chairs, counters, tub edges or step stools to reach a high spot, and anything above the reach of a long handle is left where it is with a note on the way out.
For a younger resident in the same kind of apartment, what a maid service visit covers walks through the room-by-room sequence; a bath in a 1930s building takes extra time on the grout, so the plan on the call accounts for that. A first visit after years without a thorough one is a deep clean to start, which clears painted radiators, old tile grout and baseboards before the recurring rhythm begins. A just-handed-over apartment gets a move-in clean, with inside the cabinets, inside the fridge and oven, closet shelves and sills before the boxes arrive.
Older residential buildings in Edgewater include two apartment hotels still on the City's list of individual Chicago Landmarks: the Bryn Mawr Apartment Hotel on Kenmore Avenue, built 1927 to 1928 and designated in 2002, and the Belle Shore Apartment Hotel on Bryn Mawr Avenue, built 1928 to 1929 and designated the same year. The City's landmarks office handles whether any one address shares that designation.
A move south in the city, into a different community area with its own age mix, is covered by cleaning in Hyde Park.
Edgewater's housing is mostly older stock, and older stock means plaster, old tile and painted trim.

When family is arranging a cleaning for a parent
The household in the apartment is who the visit is agreed with: the day, the access, the rooms, and anything that is off limits. A son or daughter in another state can make the call that sets it up, and anyone the household names can be reached if the household wants. This is a cleaning business, not a care service, and no health claim is made on any page here. Anything fragile on a low shelf is set aside only on request, and only together with the household.

Products, scents and surfaces in a small apartment
A one-bedroom runs on a short list of products, which keeps a steady rhythm simple. You can supply what you want used, or a plain working kit comes with the visit. Unscented work for a sensitive household is sorted up front, and a surface that needs its own cleaner (an older enameled sink, a lacquered table, a stone counter) gets a note so the right cloth and the right cleaner meet it every week.
Seasons show up at the entry
Winter adds salt film at the entry and dust burned onto radiator tops. Summer brings open-window dust along the sills. The shape of a visit stays steady across the year, but the time per spot shifts with what the season leaves behind. A spring or late-fall pass can go deeper on those places, which is planned ahead rather than wedged into a weekly visit.
